Due to the current income restrictions on the Medicaid, people with disabilities are often forced to choose between working and keeping their health care. A Medicaid Buy-In program, one proposed solution to this problem, is currently being considered by the State Legislature.
A Medicaid Buy-in enables people with disabilities to work and use Medicaid by paying a premium and/or cost-share. The proposal would raise the QUEST income limit and savings limit for employed or self-employed individuals with a disability. The income limit would be raised from 100% of the Federal Poverty Level to 300%. The savings limit would be raised $2,000 to $25,000.
